WHAT IS CONCRETE RAISING?

Concrete Raising is a generic term that describes a variety of methods to raise sunken concrete back to it's original level. Some of these methods and terms are listed in the sidebar at right. Click on any one to get a detailed description of the specific type of service.

Concrete Raising has been a common repair method for many decades, primarily in the mid-west region of the U.S. However, professional concrete raising contractors can now be found in just about any city in the U.S. Click here to contact a contractor in your town.

The concept is very simple, but should only be attempted by seasoned professionals as it requires very subtle nuances to get it to work just right. A grout-type or material (often top soil, sand/clay or grout) is pumped under the slab through small holes. The material fills any void and then lifts the slab back into position. The holes are patched with cement and the surface is ready to use.

Projects are priced either by square foot, or priced by how much material is going to be used. Prices vary by geography and usually range from about $2.50 to $6.50 per square foot.

The type of material used to lift the surface will vary from project to project. The most common is simple grout. Click here to learn more about Concrete Raising with grout. Polyurethane can also be used for special applications. Click here to learn about Concrete Raising with poly-urethane material.
