Seismic Retrofit with Steel Mesh in Los Angeles

Challenge

The homeowner wanted to address seismic safety concerns by ensuring the property met California’s earthquake preparedness building code requirements.

Solution

Saber’s solution included installing A35 Framing Angles and Universal Foundation Plates, as well as securing steel mesh sheathing to the foundation walls. The angles and plates strengthened the home-to-foundation connection, while the mesh sheathing provided additional reinforcement to the walls, creating a sturdier and more earthquake-ready structure.

The Steel Mesh Sheathing is attached to the wall, with adhesive, and held in place by the Plywood. A Universal Foundation Plate is also pictured.
