Challenge

A homeowner in Santa Barbara began noticing uneven and sagging floors throughout an older home. Over time, the floors had gradually lost support due to weakening crawl space support posts beneath the structure.

During the inspection, the crawl space repair specialists at Saber Foundation & Concrete Repair discovered that the aging support system beneath the home was no longer capable of properly supporting the floor structure. As the original posts deteriorated and weakened, sections of the floor system began to settle, causing uneven floors, structural movement, and reduced stability throughout the home.

Without proper reinforcement, the sagging floors could have continued to worsen, potentially leading to additional framing damage, floor separation, and costly structural repairs.

Solution

To restore structural stability and lift the sagging floors, the team at Saber Foundation & Concrete Repair designed a customized crawl space support system using SmartJack® crawl space stabilizers.

The crew first reinforced the floor system by installing heavy-duty steel I-beams beneath the existing floor joists in the crawl space. These beams helped distribute structural loads more evenly across the support system while strengthening the floor framing.

Next, adjustable SmartJack® steel support posts were installed beneath the reinforced beams and carefully pressurized to lift the sagging floor system back toward a more consistent elevation. The adjustable support system provided permanent reinforcement for the failing crawl space structure while helping restore stability throughout the home.

By combining steel beam reinforcement with SmartJack® crawl space supports, the team successfully stabilized the floor system, reduced floor sagging, and provided the homeowner with a long-term structural repair solution designed to support the aging home for years to come.
