Saber Foundation Repair Case Studies: Concrete Stabilization for High-Tech Company in Mojave
Challenge
Saber was called in to stabilize and level flooring of a building used for development and production of a high-technology manufacturing facility. The slab was showing signs of severe soil erosion, indicating large sub-floor voids. This caused instability of the concrete slab, which would rock when the forklift drove over the surface of the slab.
Saber was called in, and the customer let us know they needed the repairs done immediately, to keep a major project on schedule. We knew we had the perfect solution and could meet their timeframe, so we took on the challenge.
Solution
To stabilize the concrete floor, Saber drilled 5/16-inch holes for the installation of injection ports at 5-foot intervals. We then pumped 6,320 pounds of PL400H PolyLevel® two-part, high-density (4lb) hydro-insensitive polyurethane foam system. This filled the voids and stabilized the concrete slabs. The injection holes were filled with grout suitable for the project. In addition to being able to complete the job within four days, we were able to perform the work without causing down time for the workers, and the company was not required to relocate any machinery (saving the customer $25,000).
