A homeowner in San Diego began noticing serious structural issues developing around a deck attached to a historic home originally built in 1912. Over time, the deck foundation began sinking, causing visible settlement and damage to the surrounding structure. As the settlement continued, the homeowner observed increasing structural instability, uneven surfaces, and signs of movement around the deck area. The failing foundation support not only affected the appearance of the property but also created safety concerns and the potential for more extensive structural damage if left untreated. Concerned about protecting the long-term stability of the home, the homeowner contacted Saber Foundation & Concrete Repair to evaluate the foundation settlement and recommend a permanent repair solution. To permanently stabilize the sinking deck foundation, the foundation repair specialists at Saber Foundation & Concrete Repair performed a full structural evaluation of the property and designed a customized repair plan focused on long-term stability and structural reinforcement. The repair strategy included the installation of five heavy-duty helical piers beneath the affected deck foundation. These steel foundation piers were mechanically advanced deep into stable load-bearing soil beneath the weak upper layers responsible for the settlement. The helical pier system permanently transferred the structural load of the deck onto stronger supporting soils, helping stop further settlement while stabilizing the structure for the future. To repair the surrounding settled concrete areas, the team also utilized approximately 100 pounds of PolyLevel® polyurethane foam injection. The expanding foam was injected beneath the sunken concrete to carefully lift and level the affected surfaces back toward their original position. This minimally invasive concrete leveling process helped restore the appearance, safety, and functionality of the deck area without requiring full concrete replacement. Following the installation of the helical piers and PolyLevel® foam injection system, the deck foundation was successfully stabilized and restored to a more consistent elevation. The repairs helped eliminate further settlement concerns while correcting damage caused by years of structural movement. By combining helical pier foundation repair with polyurethane concrete lifting technology, the team successfully restored stability to the property and helped protect the historic home from future foundation-related damage. The homeowner was relieved to have a permanent solution that improved both the safety and structural integrity of the home for years to come.Helical Pier Foundation Repair & Deck Stabilization in San Diego, CA
