A general contractor contacted Saber regarding preparation for a flagpole installation at Point Magu NAWC. The Flagpole needed a solid Foundation. The hole was dug. Saber then drilled a Helical Pier into the ground until it was torqued as tight as possible. Then we attached 8" x 8" plate to the top of the Pier. Saber's part of the job was done. Another subcontractor poured the concrete that would form the base of the flagpole.

Severe Foundation Settlement Threatened the Structural Integrity of a Desert Home A slab-on-grade home in Twentynine Palms experienced major structural settlement after a hidden plumbing leak gradually washed out supporting soils beneath the foundation. Over time, the damage became impossible to ignore as the rear portion of the home began sinking dramatically below the rest of the structure. The back two bedrooms settled approximately six to eight inches, causing severe differential movement throughout the slab foundation. As the foundation shifted, vertical cracks developed within the structure, doors became stuck in their frames, and portions of the home visibly moved out of alignment. The steel push piers were hydraulically driven more than 45 feet beneath the home until they reached stable supporting soils capable of permanently supporting the structure. To reinforce the repair system, the crew also constructed a new reinforced concrete grade beam measuring approximately 12 inches by 18 inches. Dual #4 reinforcing steel bars were installed throughout the beam to tie the push pier system into the original footing and create a stronger, more stable structural connection. Over the course of five carefully coordinated workdays, the team gradually lifted the settled portions of the slab foundation in controlled increments to reduce structural stress during the stabilization process. Hidden void spaces beneath the slab were then filled using structural slurry injection to improve support conditions beneath the home. Finally, a new 5-inch concrete slab was installed and integrated into the reinforced grade beam system, restoring a solid and continuous foundation surface ready for interior restoration and flooring installation. The Results After the repairs were completed, the floors were restored to within approximately one-eighth of an inch of their intended elevation. Structural cracks stabilized, doors operated normally again, and the home regained proper alignment throughout the affected areas.
